HISTORY:

9/11 is an infamous day in U.S. history, yet for many Chileans, September 11, 1973 was the 'other' 9/11; a day of terror when the Chilean armed forces, aided by the CIA, killed democratically-elected President Salvador Allende and instituted a brutal dictatorship that lasted for 17 years. 9/11/13 marks 40 years since this bloody coup that changed the lives of millions in Chile, Latin America, and beyond.

MISSION:

The Chilean 9/11 Tour creates an inter-generational dialogue between survivors of Pinochet's torture camps, and 2nd generation Chilean political exiles for a panel discussion and performance touching on personal testimony, the legacy of the 9/11 coup, and the struggle for human rights in Chile, the U.S. and beyond.
